Alpheidae is a family of caridean snapping shrimp characterized by having asymmetrical claws, the larger of which is typically capable of producing a loud snapping sound. Other common names of these species include pistol shrimp or alpheid shrimp. Found this little one at the Blue Heron Bridge today. The Sexy Shrimp is also commonly known as the High Tailed Shrimp, Anemone Shrimp and Squat Shrimp. It is also referred to as the Dancing Shrimp due to the way it moves its body. They move by walking slowly across the sea floor but when fleeing from a predator, they swim backwards quickly by curling and uncurling their abdomen. This is known as the caridoid escape reaction.

Dwarf Frogfish (Antennarius pauciradiatus) spend most of their life living in shallow tropical and subtropical water worldwide. They're ambush predators who use lures to attract their prey; they then gulp and swallow up the fish as the fish passes by.

An octopus is a cephalopod mollusc of the order Octopoda. It has two eyes and four pairs of arms and, like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. An octopus has a hard beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. An octopus has no internal or external skeleton, allowing it to squeeze through tight places. Octopuses are among the most intelligent and behaviorally flexible of all invertebrates.
